My jeans are a little tighter, the bags under my eyes are a little darker and I just feel aware that time is moving on. Whilst I have taken some time to celebrate my achievements from last year, I also recognise the annual habit of overwhelm, as I look ahead to the mountain of tasks I didn’t quite finish and the many ‘I should haves..’ that rear their heads. Add to this the amount of things I’d like to achieve in 2025 and the task of returning to work seems all that more daunting.

So, in honour of launching my new workout apparel range to help bring some comfort to your skin as you venture to the mat or the gym I offer you these words of advice so we can all begin the year with that little more self-kindness.

5 tips to re-energise: Kickstart 2025 with care

1. Accept that you chilled out and celebrate it!

OK, so you ate more chocolate coins than you spent and drank more Prosecco than Italy made this Christmas but that doesn’t mean that you are now past the point of return! All work and no play makes us dull peeps and the festive season is intended to allow us to let loose just that little bit. So rather than beating yourself up and falling into habits of avoidance, simply celebrate that you chilled out, enjoy the new memories and now take some time to revisit new health and nutrition goals. Then, it’s simple…take the first step! It may even be trading the cooked breakfast for a bowl of porridge with fruit on the side, or returning to wine as weekend treat. Whatever you decide, make it small and achievable rather than guilting yourself every time you reach for the chocolate. Everything in moderation will keep you sane - binging because you feel you’re past the point of return is not the solution either. Find the balance and make it work for you!

2. Seize the day and Stretch It Out!

Some movement is better than none. This can be different for everyone and if, like me, you’ve saved a hundred workouts on social media in the hope that you’ll soon become your ideal lean, mean fighting machine yet haven’t actually clicked back into the videos, you may need a more effective plan. Maybe you’ll decide to go for a brisk walk around the block upon rising with some pumping tunes in your ear pods, or will you dance to your fave tunes whilst you make your breakfast in the kitchen, or take a ten minute moving meditation to ease into the day? Whatever gets you going, be sure to stretch it out and get your endorphins going to kickstart each day through a burst of movement. Your body will love you.

3. Turn wine to water - Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

I cannot speak for you all, however, my body is possibly more alcohol and salt than vitamins and serenity right now. My experience of sprouts over the Christmas break was enough to tell me to steer clear of the cabbage soup detox this January, so how can I reclaim some balance in the internal cocktail within my body without having to go all Gwyneth on you? Simply change one thing…be aware of your water intake and up it. This simple change can help to reduce thirst that imitates hunger, reduces sugar cravings and fills your body with that blissful H2O that brings with it a waterfall of benefits. Simple change. Opt for the H2O and step away from the fizz or at least change up the ratio to 1:1.

4. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep

If, like me your Netflix and chill time has turned you into a nocturnal chocolate munching monster that you no longer recognise, it may just be time to wind it back a little and switch up your remote control for your pillow spray. Maybe start with limiting the number of episodes before watching to avoid the inevitable question of ‘one more..?’ as you battle between the clock and the cliffhanger. Remember when we had to wait a week to watch the next episode? I’m starting this one with the seemingly painless task of promising myself to go to bed the same day I got up…it’s a start right?

5. Notice the little things

A new year brings with it new possibilities. There are a myriad of articles and videos giving advice on how to be your best, do more, achieve more, aspire to thrive and convert to super heroism. However, I ask you to do one simple thing. Notice the little things and take joy from that. There is so much beauty in the world that simply noticing what we do have, rather than chasing what we don’t yet can also bring some joy to our day. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t be afraid to take the blinkers off. Maybe the answer is in the clouds.

Product Launch…

Whatever you do. Do it in style and comfort with our brand new range for 2025…

Whether you lounge in it, curl up in it, walk in it or workout in it. The choice is yours - which items will you choose?

Stretch It Out

And finally…Enjoy January and we know you’ll smash it - one step at a time!!!

SUNDAY MUSING #1| Why Do Cats Like Boxes? | It’s an age-old question and today for my first ever Sunday Musing, in aid of the launch of The Cats Whiskers range, I contemplate this highly important question.
